Shane Dangers Jim (BOTNIT) is 1 of my favorite retrowave producers having started out 10+ years back. .EDITED.. wow, i must have been in rare form when i posted. NOW 10 years on. all of Botnit's music stands as a glorious history from the original period when this all began then..the 2008/9 when it seemed to take form. ALL the Botnit albums are retrowave gold, and 💯, anyone elses opinions don't matter..❤ Favorite track: 1991.

about

THE FORGOTTEN (Intro)

COMMIT 2B FIT
+Instrumental+
+Remaster+
I wrote this song for Sunlover Records' Maximum Workout Volume 2 compilation, but my song and Ogre's were both too loud for the rest of the compilation. It also featured awesome inspirational workout information from your workout coach, Ernest from Future Holotape. Between having to master to not drown out Ernest, and having to gut the song's mastering to match the other songs on the compilation, this was the original way this song was to be heard, with fully unlocked power.

RUNAWAYS
+Instrumental+
+Remaster+
Runaways was a song I made for a Future City Records compilation. I made it before I had my current sent of mastering/mixing standards, and I again had to compensate for Ernest's smooth grooves. This version is boosted to how it should be heard, and without Future Holotape's contribution, vocals and the solo (Still love you though Ernest! and Fuck FCR.)

NO DRUGS
+Rarity+
This tune came about after I was looking for some post-"To the Max" inspiration and getting none. I just tossed it up onto my soundcloud page, because I didn't see a point to not sharing it out. So it has only existed on my soundcloud page and a few rips to YouTube, but now it'll get the full digital distribution.

ROUTINE STOP
+Instrumental+
+Remaster+
I made this song for one of New Retro Wave's earlier compilations. This release removes the original clips of the speeding motorcycle driver getting pulled over, that original version can be found on YouTube. I also added my current mixing and mastering standards as this song was created back when I really didn't know what I was doing (as indicated by the lack of a bass track, it's not an accident, it's on purpose.)

1991
+B-side+
1991 cannot be considered a rarity, as it is fairly well known and accepted on both soundcloud and YouTube. It was however a test song, testing the waters if I could make a small 90's music EP, first conceived as far back as 2013, it was to be called "Hi 90's." As that's sort of gimmicky, and I don't care for gimmicks that much, I decided to put it out on soundcloud as a test. While it has become one of my favorite songs since my last album, it was not well received by the synthwave community, specifically speaking of bloggers, well-known fans of synthwave as well as other synthwave artists. New Retro Wave was a major exception to this rule, they loved the song, as well as my fans, they also loved it, and everyday people who like my music, their opinion is just about the only opinion that really matters.

LOVE AND LOSS (Feat. Helisir)
+Rarity+
This tune has had an interesting history, I wanted to make a song that was outside the bounds of what I usually make, and this is how it ended up. It was shelved for a long time after a synthwave colleague made fun of Helisir's pronunciation for some of the vocals, and I took it personally. It did appear on a popular synthwave radio show just once, but it is not that easy to find. Here, it finally receives a proper release, regardless of what people think of it, and in spite of various shaming that doesn't actually matter.

SNOWED IN
+B-side+
+Rarity+
This song has also had a very long history. Originally it was called "Mystique", and it was nearly half as slow as this version is now. It was meant to be one of four songs to appear on a 4-track EP called "Date Night", scheduled for Valentine's Day 2014, that never happened. Two songs made it to "To the Max", and one was scrapped. Here's the final tune. It was also given a negative reaction by the same artist who disliked "Love and Loss", The feedback I received was that it did nothing for the person, and it was the first tune I had made they were not impressed by, and once again I took it personally and tucked it away. It debuted on a synthwave compilation dedicated to Valentine's Day, nd can be found online in a slightly different form. It has never really been heard outside of that compilation until now.

MEAN STREETS
+Rarity+
This song was made to be submitted to the makers of a small synthwave movie that was successfully funded on Kickstarter. Though it was funded, this movie WILL NOT ever be released, in my opinion, and I don't believe the song would even be selected, even if it got made. So, I'm not keeping it around to see if it ever gets made in 10 years. Be free!

CHASING EMOTIONS
+Half-Speed+
In looking for some post-"To the Max" inspiration, I started changing the BPM of some of my songs to see what effect it had. "Chasing Emotions" has been considered one of my signature songs, so I tried it first. I changed the BPM from 130 to 65, and altered some of the patterns to double when needed, and this is what we ended up with. Some people actually prefer this version over the original.
